HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Happy Thanksgiving
Awesome MySpace Comments & Myspace Layouts

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

There is so much to be grateful for. I am grateful for a wonderful Husband and an amazing family. I'm grateful that Rob's family likes me and that my family likes him. I'm grateful that I have a good job that pays well. I'm grateful: for my health; that I live in a house (even if it's not my own); for the most awesome friends ever; for the food in my fridge, and so much more. I'm glad that with the economy so bad, we can still have things that we can be thankful for. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Madison is TEN!!

Happy Birthday Monkey Butt!!!

My youngest sibling, Madison, is 10!!

I cannot believe it. She was born when I was in college. I was there when she was born. She’s the only sibling I saw born. It was a pretty amazing experience, that was the first birth I’d ever witnessed, and it is an extremely amazing experience. Of course, I cried. It was only my step-dad and I in the room with my mom, who was so out of it, I thought her head was going to start spinning, and she’d vomit pea soup everywhere. HAHA.

All my siblings have such unique personalities, I love them all. Maddie definitely is different from April, and different from me. And she’s a very strong-willed person, I feel that she could do anything that she puts her mind to. She is such a beautiful girl and I’m so proud of the little lady she is becoming.
And I THINK she likes me too, since she lets me call her “Monkey Butt” and she gets a little upset if others call her that.
So Happy Birthday, Maddie!! I love you so much!

I CAN'T WAIT

It was a little over a year ago that I first started hearing about “Twilight”. Some girls I worked with were talking about it and asked if I had read it. I hadn’t. I’ve pretty much only read Dean Koontz since high school. In the last year, the “Twilight” series is the only book I ever hear about. I figured I’d read it eventually, but I was in the middle of the “Odd Thomas” series by Dean Koontz.

It’s been taking me forever to read it, because I don’t give myself time to read anymore. When I started hearing about the “Twilight” movie coming out, I decided I better get a move on, because I wanted to read it before I saw the movie.

Finally, last week, I left my last “Odd Thomas” book at work, and I still had about ¾ to read, so I decided. All right…..I’ll take a break from “Odd Thomas” and hurry and get “Twilight” done. I started it on a Thursday evening, and got pretty far after work Thursday and Friday. Then Saturday I read almost all day, and finished it Sunday morning. Poor Rob. He felt slightly neglected. But he just watched football almost the whole time, so I think he secretly enjoyed it. Of course at the end of the book is a teaser for the next one, and once I read that, I jumped up and looked at Rob, “I HAVE to go get the next one” and he just laughed.

Well, its Tuesday and I am half way through the second one. Freakin work keeps getting in the way of me reading it. And I’m trying to not PLOW through it as quick, and spend a little time watching TV with Rob. But its seriously SO GOOD. I don’t want to stop reading! It totally pulls me in, and I’m oblivious to what’s going on around me.
The movie comes out this week, and when I first found out the release day and knowing how early tickets were on sale and hearing how they sold out so fast, I figured it’d be a couple weeks before I got around to seeing it, so that I didn’t have to fight TOO big a crowd. Then Sharise told me that her sister had reserved the theater for Saturday morning and was able to get me a ticket. WOOHOOO!!!!! I am SOOOO excited now. Now that I’ve read it, I don’t know if I could have handled waiting to see it anyway. So this is going to be way fun! Rob just laughs at me when he watches me read it, because of the expressions on my face. I keep trying to convince him to read it and he just says “It’s a GIRLS book!” hahaha. He said he’d see the movie, though. So that’ll give me reason to drag him if I want to see it again in the theater, or to rent it (OR BUY IT) when it comes out.

So, Yeah, I'll be right in there with the screaming teenagers....I'll just have to grin and bear it.

Another good thing this week?? I put $25 of gas in my car, and the needle was on FULL!!!! YAY!!!! It used to take $50 to fill, and its SUCH a relief to not have to cringe when I get gas….I just have been letting it go as empty as I dare before I go to the gas station. Well, mom, Maybe we’ll be able to save for a road trip next year!!

Tomorrow.....32....

Tomorrow is my First Best Friend's birthday. I say my "first best friend" because that's exactly what he was.

My brother is two years and one month older than me, but he was my very first friend. I followed him everywhere when I was little. Even when him and all his friends were riding bicycles, I would just run behind them, following. There were many lonely times in our childhood, when all we had is eachother, and that is what kept us strong.

I am very proud of the man he has become. He has a wonderful family. His wife, Jalee, is someone I admire, and care deeply about. They have 3 gorgeous children (with one more on the way!!) And although I don't get to spend as much time with them as I used to, or even as much as I'd like, I still think about them all daily.

And though, through the years, we've had our squabbles, I still see him as my "First Best Friend", and I look up to him A LOT.

Joshua David Scott....Happy Birthday!! I love you bro!

Seemed funny at the time

My cousin did this and it made me laugh, so I decided to. :P

Dear Megan:

I don't really know how to tell you this, but the mafia wants you. I think I realized it when I changed tennis shoes as you ate enchiladas and I saw you put leeches on the crazy monk. I'm sure you're senile enough to understand that I did a sex-change. I'm returning your ring to you, but I'll keep the oil stocks as a memory. You should also know that I told in my confession today about the incarnation as an eskimo .

Greetings to your frog Leonard,
Danielle

What the????

The top graphic on the bag of cat food...is that a DOLPHIN!?!?!
No wonder LaFawnda pees on our stuff and the floor! She's protesting the Dolphin in her food!!! When I grabbed the bag to feed them yesterday I noticed it and thought, "What the???"
Bah...today at work was another stressful day. When I get VERY stressed and frustrated I cry....I hate it, I feel stupid, but that's what happens. Good thing I don't get that frustrated at work very often. I had given a stack of files to someone higher up than me, and now they're missing. And that person says I never gave the files to them. FREAK!!!!!!!

I guess we'll have to scour the office while that person is out of town! I hope we find them!!!!!

This is just how life seems to be going lately!

You know money is tight when the soap in your shower looks like this: (Ignore my creepily long hand)

And you almost risk your life to dive after it if it falls so that it doesn't slide down the drain! So desperate to use every last millimeter of it, then when it's finally gone, you just hope you have enough soap scum on the shower walls that you can just roll around in there! (Ok.....I'm TOTALLY kidding about that last part...I don't like a gross bathroom, and I had cleaned the bathroom right after I took this picture). But when I was cleaning the bathroom, I bumped the soap and it quickly slipped down the drain, before I could dive after it! :( Freakin soap!
Rob worked this weekend, which is always sucky. But on Saturday, as he was going through a GREEN light, some teenager ran a red light to try to get in front of him, and Rob couldn't stop in time...so SCREEEECH BAM!! He hit her.

It wasn't really that bad, a little fender bender, but it still sucks! Rob felt bad anyway, and made sure she was ok. Good thing I put him and his truck on my car insurance 2 weeks ago!! The lame thing is: the cop that responded was the girl's brother-in-law. So ROB got the ticket! (for following too close, of course), and the girl was under age, and they couldn't get ahold of her parents, so they had to transport her in an ambulance. So Rob felt even worse. So YAY! now our car insurance can go up! WOOHOO PARTY!....ok.........yeah......Freakin teenagers!

Frustration and Alzheimer's

HOLY CRAP!! Yesterday I had never been so glad it was Friday in my life! Our new director at work seems to think that I’m his personal slave, and it’s driving me insane. I do payroll and accounts payable. We HAVE an administrative assistant. Why am I having to everything for him! He’s an alright guy, and can be funny, but when he gets frustrated, holy cow, watch out. If he can’t find some form or information, he asks me. And I’m like, “hell if I know!!” He wanted me to teach him how to approve the invoices I park, and I’m like, “I don’t know….I haven’t been the director before!!” And I offer to get lunch for one of the girls here, and all of the sudden, he’s in my office giving me a run down of what people in the conference room want for lunch. When did I become a delivery driver again?? The admin. Assistant said, “I usually do the lunch orders.” Because she knew that I was in the middle of a million things, and he said, “No, Danielle can go get it.” FREAK!
Then I have whiney little employees telling me that I shorted them hours, so I just sit here thinking: “uh, NO, I didn’t…you’re just too stupid to look at the Time Report book that I put out for you to CHECK your OWN hours!! I don’t know when the crap you work!! YOU shorted YOURSELF hours.” There are 125 employees, I can’t keep track of every single one.
Ok….now that I’m done venting for a second……..PHEW……….
I hope I have a GOOD, LONG weekend! So far, its started off well. My mom and I teamed up to do the ‘Memory Walk’ for the Alzheimer’s Association this morning, it was actually pretty fun, and I was really happy that my mom came with me.

It was just a mile, but our facility has earned a good amount of money to contribute so that makes me happy. I got some pictures of the action.

There were a lot more people there than I expected, so YAY!
It was a BEAUTIFUL day for the walk too. It was at Sunriver Golf Course:

The temporary 'Memory Garden':

Mom was walking Debbie's dog Izzie trying to wear him out:

Our whole group:

Anyway….I’m off to find something to do! (or it will find ME).

A few things lately:

First off...What an amazing time in history, that I thought I'd never see. The first black President of the United States! No matter who you or I voted for, you have to be able to recognize how amazing that is!

This is the first time ever, but I finally exercised my freedom to vote. I've been old enough for the two elections before this, but I never felt as strong about it as I do this time around. I guess just being in the middle of such hard economic times, etc, can make you think more about it.
Second: Since Rob lost his job in January, he's been working "temporarily" (which has turned into longer since no one is hiring) for his brother in law...but this last week we found out that his brother-in-law's company has to shut down. So as of next week, Rob's on the job hunt again. Basically the only jobs open anymore is nursing, so I hope some miracle happens and he can find something good! Until then, I don't know what we're going to do.
And Last but NOT least: Happy Birthday Grandpa Jerry!!!

Him and Grandma Jerri have been such a big help to me all my life! They've instilled so many core values in me, and I will be eternally grateful for everything they've ever done for me. My grandpa is a retired California Highway Patrolman and has been working on a book of his experiences. He's been working on it a long time, and I hope I get to see it completed. Grandpa Jerry, I love you more than you'll ever know!

HALLOWEEN!!!

I guess when you get older, and don't have kids yet, Halloween is just not that exciting anymore. I mean, I enjoy all the decorations, and I even like dressing up if other people are going to (and thank goodness me and the people at my work are into making fools of ourselves). But as I was driving home from work and saw some kids already starting to head out Trick-or-Treating, I got thinking how fun it will be to have my own kids to take out. I like handing out candy, but we don't get many people by our houses. Especially now that everyone "Trunk-or-Treats" now. Which is convenient for them.
Anyway...I'm glad that at my work we try to make it fun for the residents to matter what, so that's cool. So I wanted to share some of the pictures from my work for Halloween, etc.
Me and Rob's pumpkins:

Debbie, her flying monkey, Becca, and me (I didn't have the time or money or energy for a costume, so I recycled my straight jacket from 2 years ago):

Mitch (our Occupational Therapist), Mikey (one of my FAVORITE residents) the "paperboy", and me:

Donut eating contest:

Pinata:

Dale, the Pirate, he's a crack up!

The business office assistant, Amanda, as Cruella De Vil, and her son, Hunter, a dalmation. Her miniature pincher was a dalmation too. And Marge, the hippy:

Jalee brought the kids to visit me:

My mom borrowed stuff from my costume last year:

Madison was Hermine:

Brycen was Darth Vader:

Josh and Jalee were just plain sexy:

And Michelle (Rob's sister) and Russ brought the girls over. Kalie is 13, so she's "Too old" to dress up anymore, but Brittany and Stephanie were a princess and a pirate:

Now.....gearing up for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
